2020 86 Cup Stock Class

I have decided to participate in 86cup for the first time this year and had a question about stock class, especially with the recent updates. https://www.86cup.us/rules/

While I have ordered the GT Radial SX2, I still have another day on my set of 200tw Nankang NS-2Rs. I was hoping to finish those up before mounting up the new tires. Technically these would be legal under the old rules, so can I run these and still be eligible for points in stock class? The rules mention a grace period, so my thought is that would cover it, but I want to be sure.

Any help is appreciated.

I believe the grace period is in regards to leniency in regards to new rules regarding LSD, camber bolts, plates, etc. Anything other than SX2s will land you in Touring automatically. Not 100% sure but that’s how I understand it.

See you out there!!

I think that's correct. Post on the FB 86Cup page to get a more definitive answer from someone on the 86Cup board.

Another alternative is to pick up some OEM wheels for your SX2's, and keep your other set for street driving. You can usually find these for <$200.

I don't use Facebook, so I figured this would be the next best spot.

It isn't a big deal, so I may just mount up the SX2's. Was just hoping to get a little more value out of the other tires, but they only have one track day left in them anyways. I have some OEM wheel sets, but planning to use my aftermarket set. With mounting costs, I may be better off just making the switch.

Saw you out there, dude, gettin' after it! Too bad you couldn't stick around for Sunday.

99% certain the grandfather was for those who competed in 2019 with a vehicle that was previously in stock class, so long as they were using the same configuration / setup (not that it matters anymore).

See you at Chuckwalla!

The grandfathering allowance was only for cars already present in 2019. Your NS2R would put you into street class.
