Tada san talks to Nikon about his cars...
Not sure if this is the right place for this but In my view my cameras are a high performance Vehicle for my other passions.
Mr Tada Share’s tidbits about the 86 & Supra... and his camera. https://imaging.nikon.com/brand/design_philosophy/index.htm One of my other passions I like and took up at the same time since getting my first car back in 77 was Photography. The car brings you to great places & events and the camera records some memories… |
I'm just 1 step down their production ladder. Instead of a Supra+Z7, I race a FRS and shoot with a Nikon Z6.
Very good article! Thank you for posting. |
Tks , Nice toys Mr Classic.
I make do with a few older gen DX cams and good assortment of heavy coke bottle lenses that span over 40 yrs… And an mostly unmolested(yet) BRZ. Between the car mods/racing & Photo toys these can be a black hole & expensive hobby’s… The article is Much marketing hype but yet I have a feeling the meeting came off as just 2 buddies comparing notes as to what they do. How did these 2 different product worlds find themselves? Art vs Engineering? Is it me, but I feel something was lost in the translation and some details dropped off or misunderstood by the author. What was really meant by Tada when he quoted about the 86 “Akio Toyoda, the president of the company, test drove it and said simply, ‘I can't establish a rapport with this car,’ and left abruptly” was that on an undeveloped test mule he tried out or was he expecting another SUV, or did he just had to have a shit? Tada does not really expand on the explanation on that and I have not come across that quote before in my studies on the 86 development… |

they all drive boring. predictable. as tada said, they don't force the driver to learn, or adapt, or feel, they just 'do'. |
Oh cool! Tada-san forwarded me that article while back (in Japanese) and read up it. Glad to see there's translation ver.
