2013 Scion FRS AC Temperature or directional contol fix
 

I got a 2013 Scion Frs with a broken AC temperature control problem, of course my extended warranty just expired last month. I could not adjust the temperature, so I dismantled the AC control module to find out the piano wire around the spool had come off track so I turned the wheel so I reworked the wire back in place. I also noticed the cable where it is anchor to was not stable when I turned the knob so I took a plastic hotel room key and cut a piece and taped it around the cable to keep it straight. Toyota use this AC controls in their low end cars like the Yaris and Corolla. Here is a couple of youtube videos on the control.
