Help with Basic Tuning
Hey all,
I am interested in tuning my car and have very little knowledge, but I know enough to be dangerous. It is my understanding that a basic tune can net a few horsepower, even on a bone stock car. I have an essentially stock auto 2013 FRS (except axle-back and air filter). What do you recommend in terms of getting a tune? Do I just find a reputable shop and have them do a dyno tune? Or do I need to buy software (Ecutek), etc., first and then dyno? Do you even have to do a dyno tune anymore at all? Or can it be done with just software? The software and all the options are what really confuse me... im not tech savvy but my wife is. Goals: Gain 10-15 hp; eliminate/minimize torque dip; retain reliability; not spend a ton of money (few hundred only). I am not interested in running E85 and don't plan on doing anymore MODs really. |
