KW Clubsport 3-way Valving
 

Hey everyone,

I'm looking for some recommendations as to the shock valve setting on my KW Clubsport 3-way's. I have them installed on the car now, corner balanced and aligned. The shop asked me how I wanted the valving set and I said I wasn't sure so they left everything at full soft. Does anyone have an suggestions as to what the valving should be set at and how I should go about tuning it?

Start with users manual suggestions, which I believe for KW is typically dead middle or a few clicks one way or the other off of middle. You can usually download the users manual with some light googling. Going soft for street comfort is an area where KW does well.

Edit: well online manual doesn't have suggested damper settings darn, they may have another booklet in the box about adjusting the dampers but it's not attached to the CS 3-way product listing online

That's a slightly uncommon damper, you may get lucky someone might drop in with experience but its a shot in the dark unless someone has an extremely similar car setup to yours (wheel size, tire size, tire compound, non-oe bushes, etc.) You'll be better off googling some shock tuning advice articles/manuals and fiddling with them yourself, they're meant to be adjusted, be gentle and you won't damage them.

Start with these settings from this MotoIQ article. They're autocross-focused, but probably a good starting point from which you can refine for the track or w/e your intended application is. The author also lists his alignment and corner balance results, which are helpful.

Add +5mm to those ride height measurements. The author of that article told me he raised it up by that much sometime after it was originally published. The original comment section got wiped out when they upgraded the website for some reason.

Thanks for the advise. My corner weights are similar overall the car is a little lighter then the MotoIQ one. I’ll have to double check the ride height measurements. I know it’s not lowered too much lower than stock as I asked to not mess up the stock geometry too much.

The lowest I go is 13" from hub center to fender. Any lower than that I feel like suspension geometry starts to become compromised. Some people go a lot lower, but I wouldn't do it without taller ball joints and differential riser to compensate.
