Tomai94's BRZ! Carefully planned, Quality Parts, Built Right.
10/01/2019 - Back Story
I get an email from my credit card company saying that i'm pre-approved for (XXXXXX) amount of monies for a new or used car. I've been wanting a BRZ for the past 6 years and thought it was time for me to part out my widebody GC and get something that's reliable, new and updated. I've owned about 9 Subaru's now and a few other cars here and there. Looked online and found the BRZ with 73k miles and a stock photo lol. Color wasn't as advertised so I messaged the dealer. We went back and forth and settled on a price and I bought it before even going to take a look at it in person. Specs: 2014 Subaru BRZ Limited 61k Paint Code (Dark Grey Metallic or DGM) Clean title 6 Speed Manual (Who buys an automatic??) 73,957 miles Here are some stock photo's the dealer sent me: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...1630dc23_k.jpgIMG_1400 by Thomas Le, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...f3237316_k.jpgIMG_1398 by Thomas Le, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6c55571f_k.jpgIMG_1395 by Thomas Le, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...6cadbde2_k.jpgIMG_1393 by Thomas Le, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...44f7650f_k.jpg59337472297__C201E92E-7055-4BC8-A356-9EA58E87EF0E by Thomas Le, on Flickr https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...65e3e472_k.jpg59337470547__CFA42951-1413-49A4-9DFC-D048871BF480 by Thomas Le, on Flickr 10/30/2019 - Picking up the car I took a 3hr shuttle ride to a dealership in my state to pick up a 2014 BRZ limited. Had some tiny imperfections but nothing would offset me from finalizing the purchase. Drove it home 3hrs on the rainiest day possible and was nervous about driving something that's RWD (my first RWD car) in the rain since I've hydroplaned before but had no issues and made it home. P.S - follow my instagram @tomai94 to see my stories and posts as I build this car |
People say you can't build on a budget but I'd have to disagree. You can still buy quality parts without paying up the butt. I was buying parts for this car long before owning it.
Agency Power Catback Retail:$950 I paid: $450 (Guy threw in Motiv Jpipe&front pipe, spare trunk with CF duckbill) Torque Solutions Short Throw Shift w Perrin LWCP Shift Retail: $229 Pulley Retail: $130 I paid: $175 shipped for both |
Heck yeah man I bought my 17 earlier this year, I’ve been eyeing one for last few years but I had a son. He’s 3 now so I figured I’d buy a brz while I could. It’s my second car and it’s a blast. Definitely recommend shifting springs and clutch spring upgrade. Best 60 bucks I’ve spent! Also if your looking for some quality suspension for a reasonable price I got you covered it your interested.

I didn't take pics of some of the lighting mods I did but it's the general standard with any car you get. Installed white LEDs for the dome, reverse and plate lights. While I was doing the reverse lights i also installed the agency power cat back and I'm in love with it. The install was straight forward, 14mm, 12mm sockets, a flat head and lube to pry the hangers off. Drone isn't that bad on the interstate and no drone if you're going 65mph with cruise control on. The tone is deep with no rasp at all!! Also really love the burnt tips! Flickr is having a hard time uploading all the photos i've taken of the car right now but I will be updating the thread/posts when they're done.
