I have. Turns out that -4 front and -2.5 rear is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much for my use case. Prematurely (maybe?) killed my RE71R this past summer with that camber with two autox events. In any case, those tires served me well, and were on their third or fourth summer for me :bonk:

How many street miles?

I get about 130 runs (10-20 events depending on codriver) with that alignment (toe is F:0 R:1/16") but I keep the street miles down <2k miles.

Almost all street, something like 20000km. I have 0 toe all around.

Ah yeah that'll do it at that alignment. But in any case even a modest -2.5 is a big improvement in handling over the stock -0.6

Stock -0.6? IIRC stock front camber was 0, so even worse grip & grip-bias wise for track use then that.

Yeah, my stock front was 0, the rear was -0.75 on one side and -1.25 on the other, toe settings were all over the shop IIRC.

Yeah, I'm not too bummed out. Getting as many km out of the tires as I did, I'm happy. Going to get an alignment shortly after the new year with probably -2.5 front, -1.5 rear and some toe for a bit more highway speed stability.

I suck at autox anyhow, so until I'm better I'll have a more street oriented alignment.

As one of the vendors suggested, there is a Cascade of effects that will have you replacing every suspension component possible to "fix" a system that was nearly flawless from factory, even with factory variances in alignment. So far after lowering I've installed:
Rear LCAs
Camber bolts (front)
Steering rack bushings
Sway bar end links
New oem shocks
Tie rod end links
LCA ball joints(roll center correction)

Each installation gains a little of the OEM feel back but it will never be the same. This is the last car that I will ever lower. And yes, changing camber values has been part of this hair pulling journey.

What you call flawless I call an understeering pig. To each their own.

Yeap, if they think that they are good in standard form, they have not driven a well sorted RWD car.

What tire ?

steverife 12-30-2019 12:23 PM

I almost agreed with strat, but then I remembered how I bought the car, drove it home, ordered parts, and had struts/springs/camber bolts/sway bars/rear lca's/wheels/tires/exhaust on the car within a week of owning it.

Understeer, it's what makes a Subaru a Subaru.

The best thing about SSC is giving the car -3° up front.

I like how he gave us all that detail but won't tell us what tire he is on. Pretty critical part of the equation.
