RED FR-S with DG Squeaky Clean
 

Client was seeking the shine I produced on his friends FR-S, bought at the same time. Sadly he didn't see value in the services back then and the dealership murder wash got to him first. There was a lot of etching, swirling and hard water spots but these were taken care of.

I washed the tires, wheel wells, rims then proceed to paint..I noticed a lot of tire debris on the paint behind the tires and on the nose of the vehicle. I used supersol similar to tardis to release these debris from the vehicle, which were then Pressure washed off.

Time for the Squeaky Clean, now I know this product is suppose to benefit the opti coat users but this client only wanted a basic wax so I used it anyway thinking it couldn't do any harm, plus if it works well with normal sealants and waxes then this product is a must buy for me.


I started with a brand new B&S 4" Green pad and worked on a PCXP on speed 5.

First of all, I have to say I loved the consistency of the product. It was thick but slippery, I really don't know how to explain it better but it was really easy and fun to work with.

I used it on the whole vehicle and then I wiped it off, wipe off was a breeze as well

I know this is not as dramatic as a white pad but this is what I was able to pull off

I then proceeded to wax the vehicle with a prototype Riccardo soft paste wax. I also had the hard version which I threw into the sample box for the rest of the members to enjoy.

I would normally apply a soft wax by bare hand method but I had cuts on my hand and didn't want to make the healing slower then it was already going so I used a foam applicator. This was the most difficult method I have used, I am normally good at applying product thin thanks to my opti coat training but was this wax grabby. I had to fight it on every panel, the only way it was easier was if I used a lot of product. Embarrassingly I think I used something like 1.2 oz for this vehicle but the silver lining is that is was very easy to buff off

Beautiful! Excellent job there. What detergent/foam cannon did you use for the body? I've just been trying to sample a bunch of soaps and that one looks like it foamed up rather well.

You'll laugh but I used dish soap, I needed to remove any prior protection. Plus it's cheap so you can use a heavier dilution..and not be a girly girl it's easier on the hands. I clean cars a lot now so I need something like that. It's the MTM foam canon with the Karcher attachment....but you should get the AutoGlos Foam Cannon from fellow member AutoAesthica, it foams better.


The amount of foam also depends on the pressure washer but I won't bore you with those details.

I feel like any time I read anything about auto detailing the first thing I read is how horrible dish soap is because it will damage your cars paint and make your children turn to drugs. I understand your need for removing other waxes and sealants but I thought APC was the usual formula for this task.

Edit: Not trolling, genuinely just now starting to learn how to properly wash a car so I'm pretty inquisitive.

No problem, apc can also used. I use apc to remove bug guts and what not but dish soap has more lubrication which helps reduce the potential for swirling. Don't use fish soap for every wash, just the times you want to remove protection unless it's opti coat then you cant remove it, even with dish soap

Ah I see now. Maybe you could settle a debate a friend and I had yesterday while doing a wash on our cars with my pressure washer yesterday...

The topic was car soaps that say "safe for waxed finishes"....I always assumed if it doesn't say this then it will indeed take the wax off as saving wax is often a feature people look for. But from what my friend said and you said, it seems that most car soaps are pretty gentle and will usually protect waxed finishes.

Some soaps say "pH balanced" as well. There may be soaps that don't say anything, I usually don't pick those up since I don't know if I want to trust them or not.

You can buy a gallon of Meguiar's HyperWash from fellow member AutoAesthica, it's relatively cheap, suds and lubrication are awesome and most of all, it's wax safe.

That being said, any soap even the most boutique stuff will strip wax if allowed to dwell on the paint for a long time, for example if you let it dry on. It may not completely strip the wax but it may make it significantly weaker and/or negate the durability.
