Prepaid Maintenance Program / Scion Boost Plus
 

Question for the FRS Community.

When I bought my FRS I also purchased the prepaid maintenance program extending the Scion Service Boost Benefits from 25k miles to 5 years 75k miles. There wasn't a code available for the FRS yet so they entered the program code for the TC.

The sales rep / finance manager called (1.5 months later) and said they needed to refund the money as there is no prepaid maintenance program for the FRS yet.

Has anyone been able to purchase the prepaid maintenance program?

Let me know your experiences. No one at Toyota/Scion seems to know when the plan will be available. The new IQ / every other car has a prepaid program code in place.

No, I turned that scion boost option down, it was like $2,600 extra. It's a new car, I don't think it should have many problems, and if it does, the car is covered for 3 years (I think 7 on the driveterain parts). I think some serious stuff would have to go wrong in order for me to pay all that extra money upfront when I highly doubt there will be serious issues with it.

Ok people this is how the boost program works. It's not a prepaid plan all scions have what's called a boost program that is free of charge. Now what it is is a 2 year or 25,000 mile program and this comes out to be 3 service because our services are due at 7500 miles.

That's correct, but the OP bought an extended warranty plan, that's what he is talking about, I believe. He's just using the term "Scion Boost" interchangeably with the extended warranty.

Actually I think he bought a prepaid extended MAINTENANCE plan that will cover the period after the free 25K mile factory maintenance and up to 75K miles. It is basically for all the required maintenance listed in the owners manual during the 25K-75K mileage period.

Dealers like to sell this for the additional profit and they know you will bring the car back to them for service. There might be additional items they will find wrong with your car and they can make some $$$ doing the repair.

I purchased the platinum 8yr/75,000 mile extended warranty. It was the same deal... FR-S wasn't in the system yet so they charged me for the tC plan. It was only $1,300 which I felt was well worth it (for me). No one has contacted me about it.

I got an extended warranty as well. Mine is a 6 year plan, so I got an additonal 3 years on top of the Scion provided 3 years. They offered to lower the my APR, and subtract 1k off the plan which was originally $1800. Added about $4 to my monthly payment so I figured it was worth it.

That's weird because my dealership told me I get oil changes every 5,000 miles. Maybe they are just being nice? But yeah, 2 years, and 25K miles sounds right.

I was thinking about buying the maintenance solely for the spark plug change...

Sure hope someone finds an easier way to change the spark plugs before that time.

The maintenance plans don't include spark plugs.

I purchased the extended warranty but have no plans to use Scion Boost. After having my bumper ripped while performing warranty work on the third brake light, I'll gladly change my oil at home.
