If you even remotely understood the implication or context of your own inquiry you wouldn't be asking.

Are you doing the swap yourself, or paying a shop? If you're paying a shop, you should be asking them. If you're doing it yourself, good luck, this will be one of the easier parts of the swap.

There is going to be a lot of issues you're going to have to deal with. For the clutch system, you will need a new pedal assembly with clutch pedal. Then you will have to mount a clutch master cylinder and reservoir. After you've got that going it is going to be a fun project making a drive by wire system work. I'm not even sure how this would be accomplished. It may be easier to completely switch to a Tilton pedal setup as that would solve both of these issues so far. Of course, you will need a custom drive shaft and probably make a shifter cut out. Then there is the wiring. Thats going to be scary. I wouldnt even know how to begin with that. Getting diagrams for both engine and chassis would be a good start. Have highlighters and pens ready and get to matching wires. It is going to be a lot of hard work and even more money. Good luck with it all.

Step 2. Buy M/T Supra Swap complete. On a serious note. The A/T to M/T conversion is the least of your concerns, since you will be buying a new trans, drivetrain, etc... already regardless. But the swap itself is a lot of work. So much so that the need to ask this question probably takes you out of the very very few individuals in this world where a swap like this makes sense. Built FA20 shortblocks are pretty cheap if you can DIY everything yourself besides a tune you can be at a fun safe reliable 450whp for around $15k. If you want a M/T trade your car in for one. Or you can build the AT to handle 400ft lbs with clutch pack, valve body, torque converter for $3-4k more. |

If I could buy M/T car, I'd buy it. But there are problems that make this impossible for me. I know one Tuning Group doing this for a few other 86. But they were M/T If I want to do it, I'll get help from them btw thanks for your help Quote:
yeah i know it's huge and needs hard and hard work and of course money but i didn't do anything yet... I just started gathering info and experience thanks:cheers: Quote:

What would limit you from trading in and/or selling your 86 to buy a different one with a M/T already in it? New and or lightly used BRZ/86 M/Ts are all over the place. |
