Specifically which kind of 3m tape to attach spoiler/fender garnishes?

I need to get some double sided 3m tape to install some new fender garnishes and reinstall a spoiler.

I am having trouble determining exactly which 3m tape product I should purchase. There seem to be several variants out there that are acceptable for automotive use.

A local paint correction shop told me they normally use the clear 3m tape when they install spoilers because it is "a bit thicker and stronger". I am not exactly sure which 3m tape they are talking about.

Does anyone know specifically which 3m tape products I should be looking for?

You're overthinking it. https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail...E&gclsrc=aw.ds

This is the product most people use. It's a 3M double sided adhesive tape. Just go to your local hardware store and buy whatever is strongest. Stick with the brand 3M is the best portion of the advice they gave. If you ask a sales rep for help, tell them what you're doing and they can help find the most appropriate product, or at least get you to the right section.

Clear being stronger is not true to my knowledge.... Go to Home Depot and buy a roll. Just make sure its 3m and not an off brand. You can buy different thicknesses too. I recommend thinner cause it is less noticeable and sits more flush. I have bought the black 3m double sided from there and it is great. It will NOT come off unless u want it to....

i use this

and this stuff

generally, it seems it's always easier to source larger rolls from auto parts stores than hardware stores. but it feels, sticks, and smells exactly the same.

it's currently holding on my cars spoiler and 3rd brake light
