Reviving this to see what blades users are running.

Recommendations and things to avoid.

Ever since I aquapel'd the windshield my driver blade is leaving a streak in my field of view on the return stroke.

i went with the rainx silicone beam style wiper blades. it seems that was the main issue, though i only used them 3 times since, so not what i would consider an adequate test.

stock never worked for me, the independent parts freeze up in cold weather, and then i can't see at all!

if the wiper is bouncing on the return stroke, my solution was to tweak the wiper arm with an adjustable wrench.

every once in a while i clay bar my windshield and wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and get it nice and clean. makes a big difference in how well your wipers work.

(this is one of Bubba's better suggestions - ;))

The OP can also check brake pads, bearings and bushes as you never know.. unusual vibration through components may lead to clattering wipers.

I CAN'T SEE THE BRAKE PADS BECAUSE IT'S THE WORST DESIGN EVER

If your wipers didn't clatter, worked as they should you would see your brake pads!!

I noticed the same freezing issue with the stock blades. Winter car washes didn't help the issue either.

I decided to try out the bosch icon as they're well reviewed. I didn't see any rain-x at crappytire.

I didn't even think about inserts for the OEM blade. I forgot that was a thing. Where do you get them

I've probably Clayed my windshield more than others have Clayed their car :D.

Probably a big reason my OE blades lasted 18 months.

Only 18months? 18months of constant rain? Mileage over the 18months? I have the OEM wipers from 2014 still on my car...

43,000km on the car. Our weather the last two years locally has been shit. They worked perfectly with rain-x. As soon as I switched to aquapel, they started to streak. The rubber is still supple and does not chatter. But the 2-3"streak in front of my eyeline drives me crazy.

Temperature fluctuations between +40c summers and -40c winters don't help.

Bubba tells you the same thing he told soundman98, take some alcohol and clean all that crap off the windshield, then, go buy new wipers (arms and all).

I just use cheap ANCO blades. They usually last me 2-3 years on whatever car I put them on before they either come apart or the rubber loses its flex. I think the key is keeping the blades clean, and not blasting them over an icy windshield ( if that's a thing where you live).
