Swap with an auto?
 

I'm curious if anyone has done a swap while keeping their auto transmission, or swapping in another AT at the same time?

Only the ones that go full retard. But at that point I would highly recommend you sell your underpowered pos and just buy an V8 auto mustang.

If you're referring to a 2jz, the auto is absolute trash and not worth spending the money to swap if you keep it. If you're referring to v8's, then an auto can be good but you still have to be okay with driving an automatic. Unless you're disabled or doing a full drag build, an automatic transmission is the wrong choice no matter how you slice it.

Well I am disabled legs are messed up and tend to hurt while driving a manual transmission so yes a automatic is what I myself am looking for, ATM I am looking for a insurance car hail, blown engine, small wreck, flood. And wanting to swap a 5.3 L33 V8.

I don't think I can answer your question,,, but might suggest going over to LS1 Tech in the swap section. I wouldn't see why a GM automatic wouldn't work in a 86,, less maybe size wise. That said, the T56 fits,, so I would think an auto would as well. Post up when you get started.

hey man! dont worry nothing wrong with trying to have fun with a swap but you also have a need so dont worry! :) actually i know there was a company down by florida petersburg that did a automatic v8 swap. i think they did a LS3 5.3 actually with a auto trans. It was a crate engine+ trans from what i remember. There name is Amplified Auto Sports. Try and give em a call tomorrow.

I replied in my thread that sikky made mounts for 4L60E auto trans swap. Will need to massage the trans tunnel. but should work.
