Alcantara/Flocked Dashboard?

Has anyone seen or wrapped their dash in Alcantara or flocked it? I'm debating doing this and would love to see some pictures before.

No, I'm not talking about the little dash piece that goes around the radio and over to the passenger side. I'm talking the ENTIRE dashboard.

Yes! Just like that! Looks so good in my opinion. Not sure how I feel about all the gloss carbon bits. I was interested in buying a new dash so I could flock it. But I wanted to see what it would look like first.

It would be a worthy investment if you have the know-how to get it done.

Speedhunters had a dash and other bits flocked. The company name that did it is listed.

It doesn't seem all that hard. Just really time consuming since by judging off this video, it looks like you have to remove pretty much everything...https://youtu.be/ucaiC7Jth7s

And even once you get the dash remove it'll be a little difficult to get the glue for the flock, everywhere on the dash that I wanted it AND actually flock it within the 10 min time frame. Unless if maybe I broke it down into section?

Either way, I think flocking would be a lot easier to get decent results than wrapping the dash in alcantara or something similar.

I would still want to buy a dashboard from a part out to use just in case if the whole project doesn't go to plan and turning out poorly. Because then I'd still have my factory dashboard.

Go flock yourself!

Good idea to try it out on a part out dash. Don't want to flock your dash up and then be totally flocked if it doesn't turn out well.

Before you flock it you may want to wrap it. Alcantara, Sheep skin, What ever you prefer.

Wait...

Does wrapping the dash in Alcantara interfere with the passenger front airbag?

Quite possibly... it looks like the airbag has to break through the dash to deploy.

Watch around 3:56

Yep shows it clearly bursting through the dashboard at about 6:20. Interesting...I never thought too much about where the airbags come from!

DAEMANO 09-07-2019 01:35 AM

A person has to REALLY want a fuzzy dashboard to go through this process. OP if you do this, please post your pain!

Yes, if you look at your dash in the right lighting you can see little indents on the passenger's side dash to where the airbag deploys through.

I figured if I were to wrap the dash in Alcantara, I would just make little slits where the indents are on the dash on the Alcantara.
