Does this look right for a new car on the lot?

Looking at a BRZ with PP that’s out of my local area. I pulled the CARFAX on it, which I know sounds ridiculous at first, but I wanted to see how long it had been on the lot to potentially help with negotiations.

Interestingly there is a second entry on the carfax about 3 months after it showed up on their lot that says “Vehicle Serviced - Hub cap(s)/Wheel cover(s) replaced”.

Any idea what would trigger that to show up? Vehicle has about 60 miles on it from test drives.

Sometimes cars are damaged while on the lot or during test drives. The oddest part about this is that the BRZ obviously doesn’t have hubcaps. Perhaps a center cap was replaced or perhaps a wheel was curbed and replaced and the note was just entered poorly into the service system.
In any case, all that we can do is make wild guesses on here... why not ask the dealership and see what they say?

I would assume Wheel Center Caps as well.

New 2018? I’d also guess it’s maybe the center cap. Though going up there and saying “You replaced this $10 part, I demand thousands of dollars off the car” probably won’t work. Definitely go and ask what happened and make sure it wasn’t anything too bad

For the future, cargurus.com shows how long cars have been sitting on lots. For free. :)

Well damnit! At least now I know haha :D And here I thought I was being clever.

Reached out to the dealer to ask, so we’ll see what they say. Appreciate the responses.

Also it’s a 2019 but it’s been sitting awhile.

While we're on the subject, is there anything I should be concerned about if the car has been sitting for 8 months? It was listed for sale at the dealer on January 11th.

It's a dealer out in the desert, so corrosion shouldn't be a big issue. Any chance of the plastics fading, or anything else I should be worried about?

I hope it was just a center cap! Maybe one fell out? If a wheel was damaged then you have to wonder how hard the impact was.
Also, I’m very jealous the BRZ gets a Performance Package.

I wouldn’t think there would be any sun damage in that amount of time. And it sounds like it’s been driven enough on the test drives to keep all the fluids brought up to operating temp. What color is it?

Just like anything else, if it isn't reported no one will know.

I wouldn’t blindly trust it, but it’s a helpful tool to use when buying a car. Most people would go through insurance for any type of serious accident, and that will show up on car fax. Minor things maybe not.
