The Greddy plate adapter changes the thread to 3/4"-16 UNF. It is stated on the Greddy website that the oil cooler kit "requires use of QX-1,3, SX-1,3 oil filter," which when identified on their product inventory is a 3/4" threaded filter with 65mm diameter. It looks like "O" part numbers have replaced Q or S. Google searches for inventory QX/SX turn up 3/4" / 65mm as well

I wonder what filter the guy in the post I quoted is using? Maybe it's NOT a Subaru filter afterall?

And after some further research, I believe the Fram 2951 will fit. I’ve ordered one and will verify fitment probably sometime next week.

Front bumper cover mostly back on for final shot. Had to remove a trim piece behind the bumper and trim the oil cooler shroud to make it fit behind my 2017 bumper. But otherwise everything fit well.

I contoured this to the shape of the bumper cover, and added some weatherstrip to make a seal.

Greddy Oil Cooler
 
Can confirm that the FRAM 2951 fits. Gaskets match up as well. The FRAM is about 3” diameter, which is the maximum that will fit.

Realized that I never explained what needed to be trimmed. Here is the section of the shroud that needed trimming to fit behind my 2017 Toyota 86 bumper cover:

That's why a block-off plate is advisable.
Water evaporates out of oil, even at less than 212F. You can see an example of this when you boil water on the stove; you'll see vapors before the water is actually boiling.

Oil temp readings from the 86 are ***post cooler***. Your oil is certainly hot enough pre-cooler! :thumbsup:

Wow, the Greddy cooler with the shroud looks like it's probably more effective than the JR design. Very nice. My JR is keeping up with temps nicely here in Texas, at least NA.

It's 100% worth it if you want or need more cooling. My turbo is oil cooled, and I never see over 225F or so on oil temp. :clap:

Yeah, if I go FI in the future it may be worth considering.
