I wonder what filter the guy in the post I quoted is using? Maybe it's NOT a Subaru filter afterall? |
Updating the post with some finished pictures.

And after some further research, I believe the Fram 2951 will fit. I’ve ordered one and will verify fitment probably sometime next week.

Front bumper cover mostly back on for final shot. Had to remove a trim piece behind the bumper and trim the oil cooler shroud to make it fit behind my 2017 bumper. But otherwise everything fit well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I contoured this to the shape of the bumper cover, and added some weatherstrip to make a seal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Greddy Oil Cooler
Can confirm that the FRAM 2951 fits. Gaskets match up as well. The FRAM is about 3” diameter, which is the maximum that will fit.

Greddy Oil Cooler
Realized that I never explained what needed to be trimmed. Here is the section of the shroud that needed trimming to fit behind my 2017 Toyota 86 bumper cover:

Oil temp readings from the 86 are ***post cooler***. Your oil is certainly hot enough pre-cooler! |

Wow, the Greddy cooler with the shroud looks like it's probably more effective than the JR design. Very nice. My JR is keeping up with temps nicely here in Texas, at least NA.

Yeah, if I go FI in the future it may be worth considering. |
