Oil pan gasket
Is the oil pan glued on like everything else on this motor, or is there an actual gasket on there? I plan to pull the pan this weekend to check the pickup screen for rtv and want to have the correct gasket onhand when reassembling...

It's just hearty sealant :) had to pry mine off with a pry bar gently.

Gotcha. I'll use up my remaining Yamabond. :)

Car companies are steering clear of using gaskets when they can. Much cheaper to just use sealant and the failure rate is less.

It gives more leverage than a screwdriver and a lot easier to hammer than a putty knife. Mainly due to clearance. If I recall the service manual recommends an SST that is almost identical. |
That's a slick little tool...I like it. :)
