The sound tube looks like a whosy whatsit thingamajig from a dr seaus story. It's small it's large it bends and goes and twist and turns!
And it goes vroom! And I like it, I'll keep it |
i did the plug trick and as soon as i did realized that i missed the sound. now, if anyone is getting exhaust or intake work done i can totally understand it, but in stock form its nice to have that bit of sound to feel that little bit more connected to what the car is doing.

For experiment sake tried plugging sound tube. Yes, it lessens road noise, yes, it removes some of that artificialness from engine sound .. but car felt way less lively, even if that is just in subjective imagination. Sound tube also has one big pro - it increases sound inside cabin, not sound outside for cops & neighbours to hear :). So with everything intake-exhaust stock weighing all pros/cons i'd leave it. Or simply first try plugging it out, if muffled sound seems better/acceptable, then remove and put somewhere in closet to mount back when parting with car for slight weight savings. After all, there is chance for new owner to prefer having it.

I deleted it and added a Perrin intake tube. Engine compartment is cleaner now. I just don't like the idea of having something that clutters things up and has no useful purpose.
Yeah, you don't save much weight, but a little here and a little there and pretty soon it's making a difference. It's also a "free" weight loss, in that you're not compromising something (like deleting a spoiler (looks), removing the passenger set (functionality), etc...). But, if someone likes it, then by all means keep it. |

Sound should come from the rear of the car from the exhaust. Thats the best sound, not sound pumped in from the engine. Car is way better without it, just put on an aftermarket exhaust for sound.

It's either that or just plug it with the stock cigg lighter. Don't need the extra noise eps. with a loud exhaust already.

The sound tube changes the engine noise and makes it more grating. I sat in the passenger seat (when I still had the sound tube hooked up) and listened to it once and it was awful. From the driver's seat it's a little better but not much.
The quality of sound from a good intake is a lot better. |
