The sound generator is placed in this car so people can learn their engine. learning the engine is a key factor into racing because some times you cant look at your tack to see where your at and you need to use the sound to know when to shift. This is good when racing cars that are loud because you can distinguish your car from their cars.

Not trying to be a d**k, but it was questioned because its weight is negligible.... pretty much the difference between eating or not, or pooping or not, or having a backpack or not, or having a guitar or not, or being fatter or not, or.....

Basically, it falls under these categories of questions:

1) Does it make the car go faster? No.
2) Does it make the car any safer? No.
3) Does it make the car handle any better? No.
4) Does it make the car look any better? No.
5) Does it make the car lighter? No.

Why is it still attached to the car? :D

as stated it makes it so you can hear the engine itself without looking at the tach. I almost never look at my tach when up/down shifting thanks to the sound the car is making.

I understand that whole driving by the seat of your pants deal. Is the Boxer really that quiet without it? I am very curious, I may debate doing the delete when I get the crank pulley done.

I usually wait until after I get home to do that. Or maybe before I leave the house.

I personally just wanted to clean out the engine bay from useless BS. It does next to nothing so whats the point in having some big ugly thing running from your intake to your cabin. Plus every time anyone looks under my hood they ask me what the hell it is, then I have to explain that my lightweight "sports car" has a bunch of pointless plastic and rubber running through the engine bay so it can make me think my car is louder than it is.

eriktherod 08-03-2012 05:32 PM

Yeah, I agree completely there. I had a similar situation here at work. I already get enough because they're American muscle guys and "it's a Scion" (not for TOO long!) and then, "what's this for?" Yeah... :(
