Removed sound tube, popping noise when free revving

So I just removed my sound tube and plugged the hole on the intake hose. Started up the car and gave it a few revs and now I hear a popping noise. Never noticed it before the sound tube removal.

Basically, I free rev and when the rev starts to drop it pops from the engine bay. Anyone else that removed their sound tube got same sound? Hoping its nothing and not a DI seal issue. Maybe leaking headers/exhaust?

Stock engine, stock intake, no CELs, or rough idle. I'll record a video when I get the chance. Thanks!

I'd be temped to put the sound tube back on and see if you still hear the popping.

Did you plug the firewall hole as well?

Yes but I've come to the conclusion that it is most likely an exhaust leak somewhere in the overpipe to front pipe area.
