First ticket -_-

So I'm beyond pissed. I got a ticket for window tint this morning even though it's only 30%. I thought that was legal here?:iono: This being my first ever ticket what do I do next? The code is 26708 VC btw. :mad0260:

What do you mean what do you do? You either keep pushing your luck until you get another ticket or you take the window tint off.

xPBx 08-21-2019 12:34 PM

I'm just saying because when I got my front windows tinted the shop told me 30% was legal. So it isn't?

Find a shop with a meter and have it tested. If over 30 then have the first shop fix it if under take the car and test to the authority that wrote the ticket.
Did the first shop consider the window has some tinting of its own? Did the officer test the window and show you the test?

No he said any tint is illegal in the front two windows. My idiot self should have recorded the stop but I was just trying to get to work. I'll take it to a shop but I was pulled over before for a different matter and just got a warning but he said nothing about the tinted windows. I swear there was like 4 cops in motorcycles hidden in a corner just waiting for people.

It isn't always enforced but if you look up Cali laws they are right. Front windows 70% VLT . The only way you could legally keep it as far as I'm aware is for medical reasons.

It's the same law here in Ontario yet even dealers tint your car from the factory. Cops don't care unless they wanted a reason to pull you over.

end of the month coming... the pigs, eermm i mean cops, need to hit their quota... going for easy targets now

if the car in your avatar is your car, that looks super dark.... mine is tinted too, but it's nowhere as dark as yours... and technically, we are not allowed to have any tint on the front window in cali

Bet your tone about Police Officers would change if you needed their help.

I got it tinted 2 years ago(not that it really even matters). I guess I'll have to bite the bullet just 2019 in general has been a horrible year for me since the very beginning lol.

Op, you can try to go back to the shop and see if they genuinely made a mistake explaining the law, or maybe you misunderstood. Tint is measured in how much light is let through, so 70% tint lets 70% through and blocks $30 percent. Easy to see some confusion. Usually they have you sign a waiver saying you know its illegal though, so worth asking them at least.

If not its only $25 admin fee at the court once its signed off. But you'll have to pay for the windows again if you want them retinted which sucks.

70% tint is the most you can have on the front (which is basically clear). No need to test 30% as it is blatantly obvious.

Well you can't really fight this sort of ticket, you pay the ticket. Also take off that 30% tint, come on man. Anything over 15% is likely to get a ticket.

I don't get this tint thing, sure reflecting the heat is all good but you don't need a super dark tint to do that. When I see a heavy tint job on the front and side driver windows, I think "wtf is this person trying to hide?"

Yeah any tint on the front windshield or two front windows is not legal in Ca, but if your under 10% or 15% its unlikely you will be stopped for it.

...

Years ago I got a ticket for a %0 something. It was only for UV filtering. The officer couldn't see but find it with his nails (actually I told him, then he looked; don't tell me stupid it would be worse if he figured out I was lying. And he would.. I'm very bad on lying.. anyway...). He said: "This is for your own good, If you fall into a sea, you can't break the glass if this is on." Nearest sea is maybe 250 miles away to my city. However people were drowned in an underpass in a flood. He might be right..
