BRZ LIMITED VS TRUCK TIRE
Driving home from work, didn't even see it but some damn semi tire was in the middle of the road. I hit it going 70. It cracked my bumper pretty bad. All the lights work and what not. I'm happy to pay my $500 deductible to get it fixed but I have one worry...
Part availability. Does anybody know if these parts are available yet to body shops? Maybe I should just get a FRS bumper.... Is there any other options out there? Please I need help! Thanks! :thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks::thanks: Oh forgot to add that I got it opticoated that same morning. |
ouch.. sorry to hear that..

I was was 2 bodyshops last week here in washington and they didnt have the BRZ or the FRS in their databases. (i was trying to resolve some small scratches on the body nothing major).
Good Luck bringing it back to its former glory! |
Don't want to sound like an idiot, but... Pics?
In regards to availability, it is pretty bad... Parts are expensive and take some time to come to you, or at least, that is what I got from the various people who have gotten into accidents already... If it's faster to get an FRS bumper and you like the look of it, I would go for it! Is your car WRB? I haven't seen the FRS/86 front in WRB yet, so that would be interesting! Best of luck! |
If you cracked the bumper, you definitely want to eat the deductible. Plan on over $1000 in repairs just to replace the bumper. Hopefully that was all that was affected. Sorry for your luck, but it could be worse...we hit a 9-point buck on the interstate in my wife's Forester XT in the first month. $25K in repairs.

wow lots of speculators I see...
I had the same thing happen on the way back from Co with my new BRZ. Called Geico they came out to look at it and i need a new bumper and the fog light is a bit loose, may or may not need repair. AVAILABILITY: the bumper is listed in subaru's system at $299. the estimated availability was updated yesterday to September. for my money that is cheap parts, The Insurance companies don't have the cars in their systems but the body shop can still call and get pricing from the dealership so it's not an issue |
Re-treads only save the truck companies money... They F over folks like us when that crap is left in the road! They should have some method of tracking the companies which use this method of "money saving" so that you can find the bastards that left the huge dangerous piece of rubber in the road. They should be responsible for any repairs, damages, and road cleanup.

I like this Idea, maybe laser mark the back side of the tread with the Vehicle ID or Company tax code... this is the 2nd bumper I have lost to retreads left on the road. |
I work at a body shop.... doesn't show up on our estimating program... I check every so often for part numbers...
sorry to hear though... |

Damn, sorry to hear your stroke of bad luck. Why is it that every other thread is about a crashed FR-S or BRZ. :bonk:
