Stock exhaust with Catless headers
I might be one of the minorities that want a stock sounding exhaust with the benifets of a Catless header.
How I have achieved this is pretty simple cut out the front pipe muffler it's useless, and stick and weld a quality resonator in it's place. I went with the Vibrant Ultra Quiet 14" 2.25 Cleaned up the sound perfectly especially the tone. There is not a lot of room down there so the exhaust guy had to do some minor fabrication wouldnt go bigger than this |
why not just gut it? the cost of that would be free..

But you still have catted header?

Catless header on stock car is pretty damn quiet, at least my gruppe s was. If I didn't drive the car every day I wouldnt have noticed after it was installed.

If I could go back in time, I would totally run a stock exhaust with catless headers and just change out the exhaust tips! You get the benefit of improved torque/power, a little bit of weight reduction, and a quiet system with no drone! Which is perfect for me since I have the OEM audio + system. :D
I would never put the stock cat-back on though.. I cut my diffuser off and I don't how the stock cat-back looks when it's exposed. -Sam https://scontent-lax3-1.xx.fbcdn.net...d5&oe=5DE5E2E8 |
i run ace and everything else stock. its a little loud when you want it to be and sounds pretty stock when you want it to be.

I have a 4-1 EL Long-tube Catless header with stock elsewhere. After a good tune, the engine and exhaust note have been transformed. With the right AVCS settings, It moves towards VTEC screaming kind of sound...with some kind of VTEC kick at 4500 RPM. Love it:thumbsup:
It sounds very good I decided to sell my brand-new HKS Legamax Sports cat-back. For anyone who daily drives your BRZ and wants good exhaust sound without excessive head-throbbing noises, I would recommend consider doing the catless header only set-up. You get both great sound and much-improved performance. It is just a super deal. You will love it. |
Plus dual resonated front pipe
Gets rid of another restriction and negates all drone Stock catback is fine performance wise, exhaust gases have cooled enough to reduce gas volume significantly To work it out, roughly, you could use a infrared temp gun, take a reading at the header then one at the cat back Then.....algebra fun, I would look it like a percentage though, as apposed to temps, because rough science This simplifies it...LOL...... > https://www.toppr.com/guides/physics...e-temperature/ |
