2017 86 Engine bay Sound
 

The other night I was sitting in my car idling when this noise began coming from under the hood. After a bit of research I'm still lost, but came across a youtube video featuring the same sound. Is this a normal thing or should I be taking it into the shop?

Took it in for the same reason when I first got the car roughly 2 months in, arguably the exact same sound. Dealer it was the fuel pump/direct injectors being noisy, totally normal. It happens after 2-3 minutes after the engine is started up, yeah?

Completely normal. High pressure fuel pump and the DIs kicking in.

I panic a little every time I stop in a drive through and it get's a bit louder and I have had the car for a long time now. I will never get used to that noise.

The wife's 17 Impreza doesn't sound like that but it doesn't have the Toyota designed fuel system and direct and port injectors.

Well, when you get older, you won't even hear stuff like that anymore.
