Have 2 UEL headers, Tomei vs OFH. Which should I run?

  • Both used. Both in great condition with no cracks/dents/welds coming loose
  • Yes I am planning to get it tuned (with OFT)
  • Planning also to get the winning header also ceramic coated.
  • 2014 BRZ 6Spd with K&N Drop in Filter and some no name Cat back exhaust.
  • Stock Front pipe
  • Pairing it with a Motive Concepts OverPipe.

So I originally planned to run this OFH v2 header which is used for 50k miles

But then i found this used Tomei for nearly a steal on CL, used for 25k miles

So now i have both and got a first world problem now....

Some Pros/Cons of both
OFH Pros:
Lighter by 4-5ish lbs (but dont know if thats a pro)
Designed with OFT tune in mind.
Collector seems to be marginally better vs Tomei's 4-1 design

OFH Cons:
Not as clean as the welds as Tomei
Flanges are not thick as Tomei

Tomei Pros:
It feels more solid than OFH. It gives the impression theres better materials used here.
Less number of welds meaning it has less potential failure points for leakage down the road.
Way better welds

Tomei Cons:
May not get as much power with OFT compared to OFH.
Heavier

How do i choose?

Tomei. I have heard ppl have a hard time with leaks with the OFH but that could have been with the op. Both are gonna perform about the same. You could pick which one has a better time to your ears. I run the Tomei UEL on my supercharged car. Love the tone and sound.

OFH because it'll be better for your engine with a tune specific to it while still having a net gain in power. Tomei may be a better header but that means nothing considering how optimized modern engines (and their tunes) are for their factory equipment. Aftermarket exhaust changes should be no different IMHO.

I think the bottom one is prettier -

Sell both, buy 4:2:1

Profit

I'm leaning towards OFH.

I would say ofh as well since the tunes on the oft are optimized for that header so you would theoretically get the most power. Plus I think the tomei's fetch for more money used so more money for you. OR keep the tomei, sell the oft and ofh, and put that money towards a supercharger.

Tomei

Tomei for sure. OFH is the only UEL header I've seen manage to still have a torque dip.
