20k mile maintenance

What maintenance is required at 20,000 miles? Im coming up on it soon and I want this car to last for a good while. I would imagine oil + filter and rear differential fluid change, anything else?

At 20k just engine oil/filter is all you need. You should inspect your engine air filter and the cabin filter and replace only if it looks used up and top off any fluids that are low. Rear diff fluid does not need to be changed until 30k along with your transmission fluid according to the manual.

I suggest you consult the service mileage points outlined in your maintenance book. Main service points are 30k, 60k, 120k etc.

The first link will get you what you need (maintenance schedule). There is also a copy in your glove box...

it's 22,500 miles, not 20,000.

No, no differential fluid change. Someone said this in the BRZ forum too, mentioning 20K diff fluid. It lasts much longer than 20K. You only inspect it.

I see you have been schooled on the use of the maintenance guide for your car, so, I won't :slap: you - this time - :D

For average driving, the maintenance manual is a good guide for maintaining your car, so it will "last for a good while".

:)

As a delivery driver I average about 500 miles / week. I would imagine that means step up my oil/filter replacement to about every 4k miles?

Actually, with that kind of driving, I would suggest you just stick with the recommended frequency. If you did a lot of short distance (lots of cold starts) driving you may wish to reduce the interval.

Some feel that it would be OK to increase the oil/filter change interval up to 10,000 miles if using synthetic oil and if the car was driven long distant trips.

It's a mind blower.

I blame the lack of male role models, or a father figure.
Now a days these 20 somethings can't find themselves out of a paper bag.
Ironically there is shit tons of YouTube mechanical info, yet I don't see these people looking up info.

Also most of the hellastance ***s don't know what a spark plug is.

Most likely that's what our grandfathers or great grandfathers said about us:

Damn kids these days, couldn't hook up a team of horses if their life depended on it!
