At 190000kms what now?

I'm at 190000kms and apart from the recalls and clutch throw out bearing have been totally happy with my toybaru. Just wondering whether I should be replacing anything etc? I haven't even changed the brake pads yet? Is anyone else at the same kms?

JD001 07-19-2019 06:29 AM

Replacing the car perhaps?? How's the bodywork/interior dealing with the mileage?

nikitopo 07-19-2019 06:35 AM

I don't believe that you have done 190k km. and you haven't changed the brake pads yet ...

(!)

I have, and apart from a few stains on the seats etc it still presents like new.

At what amount of kilometres was the valve spring recall done , and how did that pan out?

Timmygt 07-19-2019 08:08 AM

That was done at 180000 and went well actually. They even changed my spark plugs for the first time.

I am at 240,000kms and have not replaced the brake pads either. It is all in how the kilometer's were racked up. Mine is 95% highway with little stopping. In effect my brakes probably have less than 20K use on them. They are still well within the good range and I don't expect to have to change them any time soon.

As far as the rest of the car goes all I have had to change is the TOB, tires and wiper blades. The paint and body have taken a beating with many small dings and scrapes but that will be fixed next week. I will also be cleaning the engine bay since everything in there is currently sort of a uniform gray from dust when the winter sanded roads dry up. I have no plans to change anything else unless it shows signs of failing.

How will you fix paint?

It is getting a whole body paint job. My neighbor at the cottage has a top end body shop that specializes in custom paint for transport trucks and we made a deal that I will cut his grass and he will fix all my minor dings and paint the car for free. Since he only has about 9 square metres of grass then I am the real winner in this deal.

nikitopo 07-19-2019 10:18 AM

Lol, good deal!

Timmygt 07-19-2019 05:27 PM

Wow, makes me optimistic about the future. You are on 240000kms with the standard clutch? And brake pads? Very good news. I thought I was on borrowed time.

If the original valve springs were still fine at 180000km , then i just might delay the recall for a little while.Mine has done only 24000km in the past 6 years.

My car had its springs done at 11,000miles (5yrs old).

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Unless you are bouncing the Rev limiter continuously.
