Shifter stiff and hangs

Hi Everyone,

I recently picked up a 2015 BRZ and am having some issues with the shifter itself. it has 40k km on the vehicle aswell.

1. Shifter shows a lot of resistance in neutral position it's very hard to get into first gear sometimes (and I will actually be in 3rd).

2. when shifting over to the left, my shifter won't snap back into the middle and just stick over to the left.

3. using reverse, my lockout will hang until I move it back into the middle of neutral... causing me to into reverse again.

I tried looking all over the forums about my issue but no OP stated the solution

thanks in advance guys

I have some of those symptoms. My car has 20k miles. Lost of vibration from my shifter. When shifting or at idle my car doesnt sound good at all. I took it to the dealer and the said that out linkage bushings are probably worn out. They wanted me to pay for part but I just bought the car a week ago so they are covering it. Hopefully when they do the job I'll hear more of what's going. I believe it's more to it. The photo shows the bushings I'm talking about. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d4623cc95a.jpg

Welcome to the group -

It sounds to me like the "shifter gate plate" or whatever it's called, is out of adjustment. There are instructions here on the forum on how to check and adjust it.

I can't find them right now, because I haven't looked, because I'm lazy and retired and I already have my "one extra thing a day" planned.

However, I'll jolt ol @Ultramaroon - he has a picture and instructions for the adjustment.

That's bullshit, old man. Do you have to use google to find the forum? Whatevs. I'll entertain you.

Guys, just loosen the plate and adjust it so the lockout foot butts up against it while the shift lever is in the middle of the first and second gear gates. I prefer going by feel.

You get cranky when you forget to take your nap.

Yaaaaaa …… so what!

If I suspect I forgot to take ma nap, I just go take another one, just in case I forgot.

When I'm in bed and wake up, I have to check to see what I'm wearing - if I'm wearing my PJs, I was asleep for the night, if I'm wearing my sweats, that means I was just taking a long nap.

Where were we and what is this thread about - :confused0068:

Hey @godbiggy,

Did you catch that reference that ol Ultramaroon left for you?

https://demos.starbase7.net/t3Portal...05HBC002X.html

I didn't want it to get lost in all of the confusion these OTHER guys have.

Well, let's hope the adjustment fixes your problem.

The "thanks" button will appear at the bottom of peoples posts after you have made about 10 posts. I donno why that is - :iono:
