Plug and Play Head unit options?

Wondering if there are any plug and play apple car play head units for the 17+ Toyota 86? I also want to wire the back up camera from displaying on the mirror to the headunit itself.

I am enjoying my Atoto A6 I installed in my '13. It has Carplay and input for any external camera. It was plug and play for my car, but they should have an updated one for the newer cars as well.

Yes. Shit loads.
Go to your local car audio/electronic store, tell them what you want. Hopefully they would point you in the right direction. Once there you can compare online for more options.

Simple as that.

Yep, Crutchfield pretty much makes any radio they sell plug-n-play for the most part. The only issue is the radio width so you'll have to have an adapter to fill the holes on the side.

i highly recommend doing one's own research BEFORE going to the local car audio shop.

every time i go to the local shop, i teach them something about the parts that are on their shelves.

Exactly! And a group of them do fit well without adapters

These cars need a head unit with a 200 millimeter wide nose piece. Here is a thread from a while ago about a Pioneer model:

Not sure why the audio companies go to the trouble of designing a head unit that fits these cars perfectly but then choose to not sell it in the North American market. :sigh:

I would be wary of being told that Crutchfield makes everything 100% plug n play for installing an aftermarket head unit into these cars, especially if you want to retain steering wheel controls and move your backup camera display to the head unit. At most, the pre-soldered wiring harness that they offered would have made the head unit power up and the speakers somewhat work. I had to do A LOT of troubleshooting with the hardware that Crutchfield sent me for my head unit install to get everything working (like the factory amp, backup camera and steering wheel controls). In fact a couple of the items that they specifically listed as being compatible with my car and head unit were flat out wrong and had to be exchanged after I did my own research and informed them of what parts they should have sent me. Don’t get me wrong, I like Crutchfield and their customer service is great... but don’t expect any plug n play harness that they may offer to TRULY be a 100% plug n play affair for these cars if you want all features to work properly.
