Oh, from what I've read here on the forum, the older ones failed from time to time, especially during track use.

Seems not so much with the newer models.

It's super bad for a coil when you force the arc to jump across a big gap. The energy of the collapsing magnetic field will eventually find a path of least resistance internally.


That is the main reason for iridiium-tipped spark plugs. They're much easier on coils than conventional ones.
