stock suspension wheel clearance
Hi guys and welcome to my first post.
Just bought a 2013 BRZ Sport Tech yesterday and I'm reviving the stock suspension with 255 tires debate. I'm going to be running stock suspension with Hankook RS4's and I'd like to run them in a 255 on 17x9's with about -2.5*-3* camber up front. From general searches this looks like a 75% chance that they'll rub the spring perches (poor design decision if you ask me, usually the spring perch would be above the tire). BUT; what if I ran both camber plates and cam bolts, turned the bolts OUT for clearance and then adjusted camber from the plates? I wish I had the time, $, and a shop to just mess around with this myself but sadly I have to deal with reality :bonk:. Would I be able to achieve the camber I want, with the necessary clearance, and if I'm running say a et 35 wheel would the tires be inside the fender? (performance point penalty in class if they run outside, not to mention rubbing fenders mid corner would be no bueno) Obviously not all the cars are EXACTLY the same and there's going to be some variation but I'd like to hear if anyone has tried this and how successful it was. |
If you went positive camber with the bolts and negative with the plates you will probably only end up with -2 at best. A little over -3 was the best I could get with velox plates and the stock struts. Maybe a plate like the Raceseng would yield better results.
Why 255? |
Quote:
255 because I just want to pack as much tire in as possible. Sure it's probably a negligible difference from 245, but my class has some really tight competition. |
It just wouldn't go over any farther. I did notice that the top of the strut was hitting the underside of the camber plate. I ended up giving them away since I didn't feel comfortable selling them.
FYI: This was just my experience with the Velox plate. |
