VVT Issues
 

Hi,

Recently I've been having issues with VVT not enabling at times. Sometimes it'll engage after idling for a couple minutes and be fine for weeks, but other times like recently it does not enable even after idling for over five minutes. There is one CEL code (U0100) but it turns off every now and again randomly. But I am not sure if that code signals another issue. The car was tuned by Delicious Tuning in August of last year along with JDL UEL headers, and Perrin catback. I've changed the oil every 5k miles and have used Eneos 0W-20 until the last oil change about 3k ago when I used Motul 0W-20. And that is when I've noticed the issues started happening so could it possibly be oil related?

Other than that the engine is stock and have not noticed any other issues like the car going into limp mode, etc. I can record data logs if that helps any and the model year is a 2014 BRZ. Also at about 63k miles

When I had this exact issue it was one of my vvt sensors. I had an extra engine sitting so I swapped them and then all was good.
