Best tires for drifting?
I am just curious but what is the best tire for drifting for our cars? I assume that the stock tires are good at it.But at almost $200 a piece.a little too pricey to play in.

There are plenty of choices on Tire Rack for under $100 in the stock size.
But I think your best bet might be to keep your eyes open in the member classifieds for stock tires that people have taken off in favor of better aftermarket tires. You'll likely see them start showing up as we get closer to winter and people start buying winter tires for the stock rims. |
Federal 595, KENDA kaisers, nexen 3000, achillis. All on the lower price side with good grip and longevity for drifting.

These are all good, just go with whatever you can get cheapest. |
Federals FTW!!! Went though 10 sets on my s14 and loved them dirt cheap on www.onlinetires.com

Okay another question. What size wheels will be good for drifting. Is 18x7.5 too big or will the stock size be better?

Federals ftw!

My BRZ is getting set up for drifting. I'm running an 18x9 all the way around. Just waiting for my Fortune Autos.
But I've ran just about anything and everything on my s14 and my r33 and personally my wore down NT05s worked great but I only used them when. They had too much camber wear to be used in the front. I have some left over kuhmos 235/40/18 I will be running just to burn them up then I will be going to a kenda 225/40 inflated to about 40psi or so. |
Yep im gonna be running a 18x9 with 225 40 18 for the rear while still NA, might run same in the front or a 17x9 with 215 45 or 235 40 star specs, nt05.

I would stick with an 18x9 all around. I wanted some nice wedsports or Works but I was forced into a replica BBS because they're the only 18x9 +30 wheel that wasn't staggered

Used tires for sure! Especially when you're learning. When I drifted my S14 a lot, I would get take offs from Subarus, or just anything I could get. Usually you can pick up a good used pair for less than $100 installed at a used tire shop for 17s.
17s for sure will be cheaper, and easier to spin than 18s too. |
