SAAB Cup Holder Idea
Hey guys!
The first discomfort I noticed last Saturday while driving my new BRZ was the cup holder placement. This morning I had a though. My 9-5 Aero has that awesome vertical fold out cupholder and I noticed that the twin's dash may have a place that can accommodate it. That panel feels flimsy enough that it may be hollow and easy to remove and mod? What do you guys think? https://i.imgur.com/QLl4LR2.jpg https://i.imgur.com/1d2TcKf.jpg |
Not thick enough. That silver piece has the attachment clips on it on the leather side that hold it to the center stack.

You bought the car without checking the CUP HOLDERS? you're in for a treat brother. You have 2 built in sealed beverage container holders!! Between the door and the seat, and the gap between your thighs.

I love the door cup holder. Works great.

Some simpler, low tech options:

I always keep drinks in my door cup holder with my wallet shoved against it to prevent rattles.

8RZ: that tom's holder is for RHD cars.
I like those saab holders, they don't take any space and if one manages to mount them there, location would be much more ergonomical vs almost unusable center console cupholder location. But i also second that door bottle holders are much better/simpler to use instead. One can easily blind-reach to/from there without any leaning/turning. Only thing to note, that it might be worth to do add some padding to prevent rattling with some thinner coffee mugs if placed there. |

Such placement imho has drawbacks if car is tracked with passenger. Holder seems in a way of legs if those are pressed into sides for more secure position.

Now that's clever! I am totally going to make one...maybe even this weekend. So that's just a generic/universal boat cupholder...with the cup itself molded to the bracket? I assume they're pretty cheap at any marina... |

I wouldn't intentionally introduce anything to my BRZ from a Saab, just asking for trouble
The Mercedes dealership in Charlottesville was also Saab, mid 2000's. Those guys stayed busy keeping 9-3's on the road, with the occasional service on a 9-2x or 9-7x thrown in. I should dig my '74 99 out of the weeds, poor car hasn't moved in years. I picked it up for free off craigslist 10 years ago, it died on my "test drive" down the street and hasn't started since :( |
