Advice on a Wireless Carplay Head Unit?
I currently have the OEM Audio Plus Reference 500Q System in my car, and the stock 2016 Starlink Head unit. I'm pretty happy with the sound quality, but I'm hoping to upgrade to a unit with wireless carplay because the OEM one gives me so many problems. I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH W4500-NEX, because it has HD radio and a cd player which I use occasionally, and wireless carplay and android auto (for if i get an android phone next). I don't think I'd want to spend the extra 500 on the W8500 because I don't need nav outside of carplay. What are your guys' thoughts on this head unit? How is the sound quality on these units compared to the Starlink unit? Are there any better head units with wireless carplay? (I've seen all of the alternatives but I'm not sure if you guys can offer insights on any benefits that other brands offer like better sound quality or reliability)
I kinda wanted a Sony unit, but they don't have wireless, and I'm not sure if it's worth waiting another 6 months or so to see if their 2020 units have wireless carplay. Thoughts on that as well? Seems like the UI is just so polished and clean on the Sony units. |
I have the AVH 2440 NEX and I love it. It's a wired carplay setup. But I don't mind that. Anyone who thinks the OEM sound system is great obviously hasn't heard one with an upgraded HU, component speakers and a sub. It's better than that OEM+ Nonsense and the cost was a lot less than OEM+. I hope this helps.
