RPF1/RCE Tarmac Offset Recommendation?
Sorry to keep reposting this but I am hoping someone has some direct insight on a recommended offset for the 17x9 RPF1 with the Tarmac 2 damper assembly. I recently installed RCE Tarmac 2 coils and I am looking to get into a lighter/wider wheel and was hoping to get some input on the tire/wheel clearance for the following.
RCE Tarmac 2 (Raceseng Cascam Top Mounts) 17x9 Enkei RPF1 +45mm Offset 245/40/17 DOT Tire (Likely an RS4 or something along those lines) Installation wise, the car has a crash bolt installed up front from prior classing and since the top hole of the strut mount on the tarmac is slotted I will be maxing out the static camber via that, and then adding additional camber via the top mounts to achieve necessary track oriented camber. I am looking to achieve the following alignment/ride height with adequate strut/tire clearance. Camber F : -3.5' Toe F : 0" Total Camber R : -2.5' Toe Rear : 1/16" Total Caster F : 7.0' Ride Height : Approx 13.56" from top of fender to center of wheel hub. Slight rake with the rear being a 1/16" higher than the front. Car will be corner balanced so static corner heights may change slightly. Would perhaps a +35 offset RPF1 be the better choice here? It seems like per the ft86motorsports wheelfit calc if I go with the +45 I am going to be extremely close to the damper assembly. If I go with the +35 there is a chance of it rubbing on the fender/liner possibly on the outside shoulder. Is the 949 Racing 17x9et40 a better compromise? It's slightly heavier so I would rather use the RPF1 if possible. Thanks for the help! |
I run -3.5 front camber, and have 17x9 +35 RPF1 and they do not contact the fender ever

Get +35
+45 will look sunk in at -3.5 camber front camber. |
I have 2 sets of 17x9+35 RPF1 and a set of 17x9+42 Rotas. Never have any fender rubbing issues.

My 17x9 et45 wheels, not rpf1's, and 245/40 RE71's have rubbed my inner fender liner slightly at full lock. Camber and ride heights are similar to your setup, I have stock caster though. I ordered 3mm spacers for the front, hopefully that takes care of it. Strut to tire clearance on my RCE SS1 coilovers is probably .25"+

I have RCE t2's lowered 1 inch all around. Alignment set at -2.4 on all 4 corners, and I think my 17x9 +35 rpf1 fits perfectly (I have 245/40/17 Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec). I haven't had problems with rubbing and I like the look. With -3.5 in the front like you want, yeah the +45 will look really sunken in. Also, the brand of tire might make a difference on rubbing, because it seems like some tires run a little wider than others even at the same tire width.

Thanks for the input everyone, I will be getting the +35 offset RPF1's for sure. They will definitely look good, but I am more stoked that I can fit a wider track width wheel/tire combo under the car!
