I've always been paranoid about actually mucking with the fuel lines; we've seen pics of a few fires on this site as a result of a bad install. Meanwhile, reflashing is so simple it barely qualifies as a nuisance on those rare occasions it may be necessary - maybe takes you five extra minutes after a fill up.

Yea flashing takes 2 minutes 30secs for mine. |
What's the real skinny with E85?
I don’t travel in my car but if I was going to travel I would switch to 93 before the trip. I am lucky to have E85 literally everywhere in my town so it’s not an issue. If that wasn’t the case I would get a flex sensor.

I flash my tune over to 93 octane, also if I'm going on a trip I pre-emptively flash over to 93 anyway and just plan ahead. If you had a flexfuel kit that'd be a non-issue the tune adjusts based on the fuel input. |

Been running e85 with uel headers for a couple days now. After a small trip by the Oregon coast today, I can definitely notice how much easier it is to pass people and power out of corners. I think it's pretty awesome how easily these cars can run alternative fuels and get some real gains. The aftermarket really has become a serious selling point for this platform on the used market especially considering how relatively new the twins are.

Mine gets right at 20 highway mileage. Like others here, I'll switch to 93 before any potential trip. I'm eager to get a header now.
The only E85 station that I know of in my area is a Citco, which raises a concern (maybe unwarranted) about geopolitics. I read of disputes over Citgo ownership in Venezuela and hope the stuff at this station keeps flowing. |
Fourth tank and the fuel economy is finally matching others' numbers - 22 mpg average.

Blackstone told me today that they have no evidence you need to change oil more often with E85. I got a grade-A report from them after a longer interval between changes than I had planned. With 40,000 miles total and after 5400 miles on the oil, most of the metals were a shade lower than averages. No coolant or fuel contamination. About 2,000 of those miles were With E85. I'm planning oil changes at 4,000 henceforth, but not because of E85. That motor is reliable enough, I guess, but the oiling system could be better, and it sees 7 grand routinely.
Oh...and the TOB growled at me for the first time today. |
