2016 Scion FRS Spec D Headlight Rewire: 6 pin to 8 pin
Hey guys, I own a 2016 Scion FRS and am having some trouble with getting my new Spec D headlights to work (with the rewire).
So coming out of the body of the car there is the 8 pin connector and it comes with these wires: 1. Tan 2. NA 3. NA 4. Black 5. Blue 6. Black / White 7. White / Blue 8. Black / White The Spec D Headlights come with the 6 Pin Connector but only 4 of the 6 pins are being used: 1. NA 2. NA 3. Red / Black 4. Blue 5. Blue / Black 6. Red From digging through other forums I've found the Spec D Headlights mean this: 3. Red / Black: Motor (-) 4. Blue: Headlight (+) 5. Blue / Black: Headlight (-) 6. Red: Motor (+) From my understanding the Spec D wires should go into the 8 pin connector as such, but it isn't working: 1. Yellow - turn signal 2. NA 3. NA 4. Black - both grounds 5. Blue 6. Blue / Black 7. Red 8. Red / Black Does anybody know what the wires from the 8 Pin Connector coming out of the body of the FRS mean and which wires they would connect to on the Spec D Headlights? If I know which connects to which I could be done with this night mare. Any information would be helpful, thanks. |
I personally don't remember when I did mine (had a mechanic friend help me install), but did some research myself when I was setting up.

2016 Scion FRS Spec D Headlight Rewire: 6 pin to 8 pin

Yeah I tried both this video and that thread before posting, however the frs in the video already has a 6 pin, so the headlights are plug and play. And the other thread doesn’t have the correct wiring for the frs :/ that’s what has me in such a bind. It could be because mine is the release series 2.0 and they may have done the headlight wiring differently than the base model frs. It’s just been a struggle the past week trying to figure it out. |
8 pin to 6 pin
Sorry to bump an old thread , but have you figured it out because i’m in the same boat. My car has a 8 pin and the headlights have a 6 pin.
