Bike Racks for FRS?
 

Hey what up everyone! So im searching for a bike rack for my FRS but I can only really find 2 for the FRS. The Yakima (which has some equipment issues I don't wanna deal with) and the one on ft86speed. If anyone has any information I would really appreciate it!

Also I did a quick search and found some old threads from like 2012\2013 with just about the same question (Yakima, and Seasucker where popular) nonetheless its 2019 so I'm hoping things have changed.

Yeah not much on options. If you got some welding skills you can diy it. Or maybe hope someone back in the day can sell you one.

I'm a cyclist as well. Usually it's just me ( 1 bike), so I put my bike inside ( then it won't get molested by people passing by the car… touching CF / Titanium bits ). If you're inside eating /hotel, etc and leave a bike on a rack you never know what you're going to come back to.

Or, you should be able to have someone weld a class 1.5" - 2" hitch off the rear end ( probably need to cut a square opening on the bottom part of the bumper). Then you can mount a "J" shaped bike carrier (holds 2-3 bikes). So there would be the cost of the "J" rack ( I think $150 roughly is a good price Yakima/Thule) , plus the cost to custom fabricate that class 2-3 hitch to the frame ( depends on the car, I've heard people getting it done for $150-200 + parts

A rack off the rear end will be more aero (and thus you'll get better MPG), then a rack on the roof. Better yet, bike inside … best aero , lowest cost and weight ;-)

The Slambert setup is pretty slick, in that it pretty much disappears when you don't need it. The downside is price and strength.

Strong, cheap, but heavy and kind of ugly. Maybe you could completely remove the rear bumper bar to try and lessen the weight gain? The hitch itself should be easily as strong and provide nearly the same crash protection from a straight on hit...?

I mean... a bike doesn't weigh THAT much.

True...if just using the rack setup and not the hitch, then strength is likely not much of an issue...

I just shove my bike into the trunk with the seats down :iono:

With my trail bike I only have to take the front wheel off, my DH bike on the other hand I have to take both wheels off.
