Possible overrev on the track; does ECU store max lifetime RPM reached?
Hi all!
Had a blast doing my first HPDE in my '17 BRZ yesterday. There was one big braking zone where I figured we were suppose to go from 4th to 3rd to 2nd. One time as I was attempting this sequence, I got into 2nd too "early" in the braking zone, meaning that the wheel speed was still too high. When I glanced down quickly, I recall seeing 64mph, which means roughly 8300rpm in the engine, assuming that the rear wheels spun at the same speed as the front.
That freaked me out good and I learned to wait a little bit to downshift into 2nd in that corner :bonk:
Questions:- Assuming that I did get the engine, for a brief moment, to 8300rpm, am I okay if I don't notice anything wrong with the engine? It completed its last 20-min session and got me home safely with no noticeable side effects.
- Does the ECU record max RPM reached? Can I hook up an ECU dongle to find out for sure?
Thanks all!
