I am sure the place that Subaru bought the 1986 vintage clocks still have them in stock.

Find an auto wrecker and offer them $5 for one.

You need to re-wind the tourbillon. 25 circle left, then 25 circles right, parking lot speed.

I have had the same problem with the clock running fast. Fixed it by disconnecting the battery, waiting a bit to make sure all the power is drained, and then reconnecting the battery.

It makes sense if its 30secs out of sync then 5 hours later it makes a big difference.

I have no idea how this happened, my guess is me pulling off battery terminal caused a surge or something that fried one of the clock components.
Any ideas cause I'm lost.
Will be calling up Subaru to get them to have a look.

^ could this be true

you are trying way too hard. Go to the dealer get it fixed under warranty. No big deal. Seconds off who the hell cares.

Well, to be fair, it's the whole panel, so it's not just the clock, it's also the emergency lights, and the seatbelt indicators.

So it's probably really worth $9 not $5.

ya know, mine naturally runs pretty fast too...granted it ain't as bad as OP's as over a year it only accumulates being ahead 5-10 minutes but I've always appreciated that it would force me to drive even harder to ensure I get to work on time ^^

Trueweltall 05-30-2019 02:48 PM

Mine ends up reading too slow by about two to three minutes when compared with my phone.

You should trade clocks with the OP. As they pass in transit the speed differential will equalize and you'll each have a clock that works as intended.

A few things in my car that I don't look at because they irritate:

1. Stupid 1970s digital clock
2. Stupid 1970s ICE with green lighting that doesn't match the general amber lighting of the dash, and
3. Speedo.. when we have digital readout..

So who gives a fuck that a $0.50c 1970s clock is fast or slow..

Because its way off than it should be? The time goes 1hour out of sync? Lol pretty self explanatory

Thanks I will try that!

Lots of people here who apparently don't understand that some of us simply don't like when things aren't working right, and can't just "ignore" them.

I generally don't use the clock on the microwave in our house either, but if it was constantly getting way out of sync with everything else, I'd still probably drop coin on a new microwave. I'm way too OCD to just be okay with something being broken and displaying incorrect information, and way too OCD to solve it by covering it up with tape, or some other half-assed solution.

Not likely, the clock itself is simple, but the housing contains the passenger side airbag and seatbelt indicators.
