FRS/brz VS Porsche Cayman

If we can compare ourselves to the 370z. That means we can compare the FRS/BRZ with the porsche cayman!

Cause here is the comparison of the 370z/ Cayman!

Who is this "WE" you are referring to? Do you own a Cayman, or a BRZ/FR-S?

Apparently the 370z forums aren't exciting enough for you guys huh?

Nice.

Since its inception, the Cayman has been regarded as one of the most balanced sports car platforms ever designed, and for Nissan to nip so close at that car's butt for half the price ($60,200 for a Cayman S, and about $33,000 for a 370Z with the sport package, which includes the bigger brakes, a limited-slip diff, bigger wheels, SyncroRev, and an aero kit) is quite a statement. The Cayman is a slightly better sports car, but the 370Z is a slightly better everyday car. And I don't have to tell you it's one hell of a bargain.

Wait, the 370Z doesn't come stock with a LSD?

"WE" as in FRS/BRZ. Cause in the other thread, we say we are better than the 370z, even tho we are not in that class.

Seems like you guys really have nothing better to do then troll the FRS/BRZ forums huh?

Considering the OP of that thread thought the BRZ/FR-S couldn't compete with the 370Z, and it started out with people agreeing? There will always be owners that think their car (no matter what it is) is better then everything else out there...but there is nothing you can do about it, so just stop trying.

:bellyroll:Every time I see @industrial 's post, I laugh my ass off:bellyroll:

Nope. Part of the sport package option, which includes the syncro rev match (the 7AT's have this built in for all trims) and a few humble spoilers that marginally improve its cd, bigger wheels, tires, and bigger brakes.

The stock brakes are okay but not great, and the LSD is often panned as terrible, but its more than sufficient for a daily driver.

The 350 was a numb turd, but the 370 actually handles pretty well. Could stand to be 200 lbs lighter, IMO tho'.

I'm looking forward to seeing what Clarkson says about the FRS on the show (I know he liked it a lot in the mag) because he also liked the 370Z quite a lot (except for the engine noise and ride harshness -- old man). Be interesting to compare and contrast his praise and criticisms for both cars.

:sigh:

I wish the BRZ/FR-S had a sport package option with better brakes and tires. I will say I am annoyed that they "penny pinched" in areas with this car. Some people would gladly pay more for that extra goodness.

Who's trolling? I still want this car when and if they offer a version with some serious power ups! :party0030:

This is one of my central gripes about the car. They just didn't get serious about performance upgrades as factory options. Hopefully they will down the road.

On that note: I wish Toyota had set a clear benchmark for a significantly pricier car as Nissan had done.

In keeping with the theme of the thread, if the Z benchmarked the Cayman, why couldn't the FR-S have benchmarked the Z?

Instead they sort of benchmarked the Miata. Sort of.

Honestly, tires don't really concern me all that much. A nice set of Star Specs run less than $600 off of Tirerack. They're cake to change out.

Toyota knew people were going to change them, that's why they promoted the whole "track tires fit in back, see?" thing. Would a performance package be nice? Sure. But we all have our own personal preferences (RS3 vs Star Spec, FIGHT!) and it's simple enough to source better tires.
