Are my tires splitting?
Just bought these Federal RS-RR tires yesterday for my Auto X this morning. Put about 100 miles on before hand.
After the day ended I noticed this weird line going along the whole circumference of all 4 tires. I never noticed this when I first picked up the wheels/tires but now I am concerned I am experiencing some form of de-lamination or a failed tread splice, but I thought those were usually the width of the tire? This is my second set of these tires and the first set lasted me 24k miles no problems whatsoever. I need to know if this is even safe to drive on, or if it's all in my head and will go away as the tire itself wears more. Thats heat. Maybe little high on the psi?

Yes 36psi cold lol. What do you mean by heat? Is the tread not being dispersed evenly across the pavement and developing a hot spot or something? |

I'm no expert but it looks like he was attacked by a Sentinel.

If I lower my tire pressure and drive around will this mark go away?
|
If that groove is lower than the wear bars I'll worry a bit.
If it's not keep on riding. Looks like you picked up a rock and it was stuck on the tire. |

I think it's plausible it was a rock that caused this, but it's on all 4 tires. |

I left the factory barcode stickers on the tread and let the road take them off.
Would this cause a problem? |

See the pictures in this thread. Seems like others have noticed these specific tires have a tendency to overheat "more than expected" for any given tire pressure. I do think, from looking at your pics and others that this is the seam between the two halves (it has to be curved to clear the sipes). I would definitely consider talking with the shop that sold them to you; however, it also looks like you have scrubbed them pretty well in just these first 100 miles so they might not have a good solution for you. |
