This happened with PDSC (there are posts in FT86Club forum) in some cases and they ended up with a blown engine. JRSC does not tap into engine oil circuit or reroute exhaust pipes in the engine bay to increase temperature like some (all?) of the turbo kits.

Turns out that kit was installed incorrectly with a coolant line pumping coolant directly into the intake. It's also possible to incorrectly install the JRSC. There are way more instances of Rotrex chargers having to be replaced than Eaton TVS on this forum.

Do you know any such case of an incorrect installation leading to blown up engine with JRSC? Have you ever seen a failing Rotrex unit blowing the engine with it? Beyond wrong installation (assuming your statement is correct) a failed liquid-air intercooler can quite possibly mix coolant with air that goes into intake. Because of that, I would not choose a liquid-air intercooler. Rotrex is the safest supercharger to install on our cars and it puts the least strain on the engine due to lower torque at low rpm. When/if the Rotrex unit fails, it is extremely easy to replace. Oh I forgot to mention in my previous post, Rotrex superchargers give better fuel mileage than PDS units because they are more efficient. I have actually even better fuel consumption than stock with JRSC when driven normally.

Because there are way more Rotrex chargers?

I remember your posts before deciding on your supercharger. I hope you are still enjoying your decision. Why don't you just tell how you made your decision. That would be very helpful.

If anyone's debating this decision, avoid the Edelbrock kit. The bypass actuator valve is failing within 6 months for a huge portion of the customer base. Mine just went out 5 months after professional installation, and some of the guys that went in at the same time as me, and with the same batch are on their 4th or 5th bypass since December of 18. Edelbrock states it's a wear part, replaces the first one, and then you're on the hook for $100 every time after that, not including the labor. I wish I had never given them my money.

I'm about 3 months away from picking up a kit and this was one of the biggest reasons I started to steer away from the Edelbrock kit. Like many others, i was enamored with the idea of low end torque in a daily / weekend carb legal FRS but as I did more research, the idle issues and daily drive-ability irritants that kept popping up due to faulty bypasses has really started to push me back to JRSC. I think i'll be sending some emails to CSG Mike soon because the two biggest things i'm looking for right now in a california owned FRS is reliability and drive-ability. The carb compliance is a no-brainer for someone who works in downtown LA.

Well I made my decision. I went with edelbrock and I spun a main bearing after 200 kms.

Edelbrock comes with some kind of engine warranty, no?

One of the main reasons I chose JRSC is that lower low-end torque. I talked to friends and technicians; all agreed with me that it would be better for the engine reliability. Still, my AT transmission downshifts so quickly that I easily got used to that double tap at the corners. There is plenty power that requires controlling the throttle to avoid crazy oversteer even with 245 tires.

Can’t you basically give the JRSC a blow off sound by messing with the bypass valve? Speed Academy on YouTube seems to have done it

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I used Forge FMDV008 Recirc. valve, comes with 3 different strength springs.
Dead quiet till boost starts, then blow off noises galore !

Ooof that blows (sorry for the pun).

Stupid question but whens the last time you checked the oil.

There's an upcoming Kraftwerks kit that's carb legal. I know the back story on it and you'd be very very happy with the tune if reliability is a goal.
