That's amazing lol... I want that!

Then you are still young enough not to get annoyed by loud cars.

I think so as well. Although even at 33 I do alternate between back seats up and down to get more or less noise. My trunk is stripped as well so there's quite a lot of noise with them down.

I have a jrsc, it's definitely audible starting around 2500rpm, but sometimes I wish I had a turbo so I could be all psh psh brap brap flutter flutter pop pop bang. Seriously tho, deciding on/finding the best tune/dyno shop is the most important thing

Can’t you basically give the JRSC a blow off sound by messing with the bypass valve? Speed Academy on YouTube seems to have done it

Agree, imagine if every 200hp car on the road was going around straightpiped. Ugh. Imo, nothing worse than a slow car that's loud. Like full exhaust, stock engine. That's why I give props to OP for committing on boosting. "But full exhaust gives you power, and I have a CAI"!

I've been planning on going with JR simply because it's so well proven at the track, and that's where I want the reliability and durability. AFAIK, no other type of FI kit (PDSC or TC) has been able to manage heat saturation for more than a handful of laps. Admittedly I haven't done much research in the last couple years, but I'm still not at a place to make the purchase so if the Harrop kit or some turbo kits are trackable for 30 minute sessions then I have some research to do.

I opted for the JRSC for a number of reasons: Simplicity, top end performance, cost, sound effects, and low weight.

List is in order of importance to me.

My car is my daily driver, not really ever planning on taking it to the track, just want some more power. In the future maybe planning on running e85, but not planning on making huge horsepower otherwise I'd go turbo.

Love how the Jackson still keeps the cars stock character where as you still need to rev the shit out of it to make power.

The feeling of merging into traffic without having to rev to 6 k with the low end torque from the Edelbrock does sound nice, but really changes the cars feel.

The noises and power delivery from the Jackson is fun, and exciting.
The low end, off the line ripping torque from the Edelbrock is great for the street.

I just can't make a decision!!! What are your opinions?

In my opinion go with the Edelbrock; the Rotrex units aren't made to be rebuilt (you can but the manufacture doesn't support this).

I’m no expert, but from what I can see, a brand new Rotrex C30 is only around $2000-$2300. there are plenty of people on the forum and elsewhere that seem to have minimal issues with their units 2-3 years in , I don’t really see how this is a big issue.

If 2-2.3k is pocket change I guess it's a good fit for you, for the rest of the world that's not acceptable. These units should be rebuildable rather than a money grab from the consumer. Also the whole right to repair issue but hey, welcome to the new world where everything can be thrown away.

Yes, you have some research to do.

Also, the PDSC kits use an OEM blower drive.

Both turbo and PDSC cars are tracked successfully. For example, Michelle Abbate with Edelbrock, CSG Mike with turbo tracked their cars successfully in the full race scale. So it is possible to track with turbo and PDSC if you build properly (expensive). But, you are right that JRSC has the best track record.

Installation of JRSC is very simple, straightforward, and with minimal modifications in the engine bay. It almost clicks in place without any cutting, drilling. JRSC has completely independent oil/cooling system with no risk of blowing coolant into intake. This happened with PDSC (there are posts in FT86Club forum) in some cases and they ended up with a blown engine. JRSC does not tap into engine oil circuit or reroute exhaust pipes in the engine bay to increase temperature like some (all?) of the turbo kits.

But many drivers prefer (not me) low-rpm torque which gives instant acceleration by just pushing the throttle. JRSC torque curve is not flat; it is a linearly increasing torque curve with rpm but helps with engine reliability as high torque at low-rpm is an impact load on engine components. With proper down-shifting, low torque at low-rpm is not an issue for me; I think learning to down-shift properly gives a better feeling of driver engagement actually.

I have not had any reliability issues with Rotrex unit. In case needed in the future, replacement of compressor unit is not that cheap but very easy. After driving more than 2 years and 20K miles with JRSC, I have no regrets.

Harrop. It uses the same blower as the Edelbrock but in a better (IMO) designed manifold. It's lighter, lower, has better cooling, better flow, doesn't need a 'D-box' to fix the MAF issues the Edelbrock setup causes.

Go with the Harrop! I live in Melbourne, Aust, where they're made and have been to the HQ. The workmanship and approachability of the company is brilliant. Actually having one installed myself in early August.

They make a shit load of HP parts other than the SC for the 86 and it's all made in house, brilliant and highly respected. Certainly not cheap though!

Given the exchange rates between the $US v $AU makes it a third cheaper than the price we pay.
