JDM STI fender emblem fitment issues.

I just ordered these JDM chrome fender garnish emblems from ft-86 speed factory to put on my 2018 BRZ.

http://www.ft86speedfactory.com/sti-...-2017-brz.html

The webstore said they should just stick on with the supplied 3M on 2017+ fender garnishes if you just trim the two pins on the backside, but after doing that, they dont fit at all. The US spec fender garnish fins seem to be too narrow to install the chrome blades and the angles just seem wrong to form fit to the fender garnish. I dont want to force it more for fear of scratches. Are these not compatible after all? Is there a fix or am I SOL?

I think i read somewhere that these do not fit NA fender garnish even with trimming the middle pieces out. Might want to do a little digging in Search. GL

@spike021 should be able to chime in, I know he has these on his car. IIRC he just trimmed the pins.

Yeah, I replied to your (Noction) DM.

But for everybody else:

So they definitely aren't going to fit flush for you. The main issue is that the JDM STI sport trim (whichever trim in Japan comes with these) actually has a slightly different fender garnish that is actually designed and intended to fit this STI emblem.

Ours isn't like that. So it's naturally not going to be completely flush. The best way to handle that is to put two or three thick layers of 3m tape in the middle of the badge and then cut out 3m outlines of the pointy ends and press down as much as you can. It won't be 100% perfect but to the regular person they won't know the difference.

The only other option you'd have is spending 200+ for the whole garnish, which I believe is sold now on ft86sf. But for something like this unless you're reeeally OCD about it, you should be able to get it close enough.
