wanted something a little more refined in terms of cabin noise, creature comforts!! it's the slowest of the entry level luxury sedans but perfect for me!

also pretty cool how stuff i'd usually spend money on in terms of aftermarket were already included (led black headlights are oem, mark levinson audio, etc)

clublexus seems pretty inactive and harder to navigate compared to ft86club tho :(

Kaotic Lazagna 05-13-2019 11:36 PM

What comprises the JL Audio system, and how dirt cheap are we talking? LOL

jl audio 10w3 sub with sealed box, jl audio amp, jl audio c2 components and pioneer avh4500 lolol labor to swap would be expensive tho (i dont have stock speakers or head unit)

That's something I noticed on my 19 CX-5 although it's not a luxury car a lot of stuff is so much more refined daily wise and standardized android auto, LED headlights etc. It's all stuff that's becoming a norm and it's crazy nice. It's really also alot to do with a car that is now in my case 4 years old and in your case 6 years old.

Also you should fix those dead image links, they seemed to fail to load on my computer, but using imgur would be a good choice.

Cabin noise, keyless entry/pisj to startblind spot monitoring, ventilated seats etc this stuff is crazy, entry level luxury cars really stepped their game up, ive come from base model trucks and bare bones sports cars

LOL. I actually drove all the way down to Torrance to buy my Yaris (couldn't pass up that deal).

However, that was back when I had a job that I could call off/request PTO really easily. Can't do that anymore at my current job.

PetrolioBenzina 05-14-2019 10:21 AM

That grill, though.

Great choice. I’m a big fan of the IS line and they are such a great used value. I’ve been looking at them on and off since I don’t have my FR-S anymore and I rarely get to ride my motorcycle.

Congrats on the new IS350! It's a great looking car and I hope that you have some fun with it!

Most car forums have pretty short lifespans so no surprise that clublexus is relatively inactive. I've recently got back on S2KI and it seems pretty dead in there, which is crazy because I remember when that place was hopping. Part of getting old I guess.

You will probably find yourself back on here at times, this forum seems to have held up pretty well. I don't have my FR-S/86 anymore, but still come back to lurk once in a while. If you really loved your 86, you'll probably get another one someday as a weekend car. I finally got another S2K and I hate convertibles if that tells you anything.

Good luck with the new ride! I have a 2018 Accord 2.0T now as my DD and the creature comforts are nice!

I own an IS300 and used to frequent my.is . Not sure if it’s still as active today as it used to be. It used to have a lot of “which exhaust sounds best” threads but maybe it’s gotten more technical over the years.

Not many people own an S2k, especially young people. Lot's of people own twins though.

I don't disagree, availability and cost of entry are certainly in favor of this community, not to mention the overall numbers made between the 86/FR-S/BRZ platforms all across multiple continents/countries. But having been on multiple car forums over the last two decades, I have seen many a vibrant car forum become a ghost town after the initial enthusiasm wears off. With the possible upcoming changes to the second generation of this platform, how each OEM will approach the next gen, etc. will be an interesting time to see how this forum plays out. So far, I have to give this forum credit for remaining a vibrant, active community. One of the reasons I still lurk here, despite getting rid of my FR-S 3 years ago.

Seems like Facebook, Redit, etc are the go-to places now.

Also discord and local car groups. The community is still alive though this forum's threads have slowed down and sometimes filled with spam / OT discussion.

EAGLE5 05-30-2019 01:33 AM

I think this forum survives because the twins are keepers for a lot of people. Those of us who b ought new in 2013 look at how little we'll get for selling and just keep them for fun.

NWFRS 05-30-2019 02:56 AM

Take it easy Eddie.

Those iS350 F cars are sweet.

I feel like the twins are holding their value better than I expected. The only ones I find for under $15k seem to have red flag mods.

I definitely would've kept my 2013 till the wheels fell off if it didn't get totaled.
Will do the same for the next 86 if I get another.

I lurk over there too for my 04 GS430 and that subsection definitely isn't as popular as the forums here.

BTW congrats on the IS350. Hope you're ready to buy tires every 20k miles. They can never seem to last longer than that due to excessive wear on the edges. :bellyroll:

That and 2+ owners , and if it is higher mileage. What exactly is high mileage now a days, 15k+ per year , 20k ? Also, not sure on '13, given the valve spring situation, how that all affects values.

If it's a one owner, with full receipts , clean in/out, fairly low mileage , doesn't need anything but a new owner, that's going to command the most value, and if you price it at/slightly under KBB, it should sell fairly fast.
