Question about breaking in after market clutch

So I have a question on downshifting while breaking in the clutch. Normally, if I need to take a turn I'll clutch in + blip throttle and slowly let go of the clutch. Should I slowly let go of clutch when I need to go down a gear? Or should I rev-match still?

I know you're not supposed to launch or hard acceleration but the one thing that I don't understand is some people say "No downshifting". How do I go lower in gear on the highway if I don't downshift?

The people that say no down shifting are retarded.
Drive the same way you been driving. Of course you don't want to do a hard launch for the first couple 100 miles. After that it's all good.

When I got a new clutch kit I went 300 miles before driving normally. Take it easy and try and put less stress on the clutch for a while is the best practice.

I've broken in several clutches driving normally without going above 4K rpm and being gentle at lower RPM until the manufacturer recommended mileage. This includes rev matched downshifting. I took care to engage the clutch more kindly and rode it a bit more than usual. Cars are not made of glass, the margin for error is not paper thin. Just enjoy it, stop being afraid of it :)

Rev-match downshifting is easier on the clutch than downshifting w/o rev-matching. You've gotten good responses but just thought I'd add that

THAT is NOT politically correct - :slap:

They are just "clutch knowledge challenged".

(just when you were doing sooo good - :sigh:)

It's ok. You are not the first nor will be the last.
At least you didn't get my second answer.

Mines is always to set your car on fire cause it's totaled regardless if it's a simple fix or not. Then I always recommend you buy a new Honda Civic Si.

Cause it's faster, has more hp and overall a better car than our pos 86.
@humfrz can confirm this. :happyanim::sigh:

Uh.. my civic si blew from a bad tune(2018). Civic si was the most boring pos I have ever driven in my life. Fun = Miata ND > BRZ > anything and everything else > SI

I’ve literally never broken in a clutch. I drive it like I stole it on day one. Clutch drops, redline, downshifts etc. I just can’t think of any technical reason why a clutch would need breaking in.

Well, that may be true, however, their may be a psychological reason. If a new clutch owner takes it easy on a clutch (doesn't hammer on it for the first 1,000 miles), that habit may carry over to his/her driving for the rest of the clutches life - i.e. longer.

I see you have a habit of messing up cars - :eyebulge:

OK, what ol @Mr.ac is saying, is that he has the perfect car for you. The clutch (and most of the rest of it) is already broken in.

When you PM him, tell him that humfrz sent you - he will give you a special price -
