Greddy T618Z for our FA20 Motor
Hello guys,
I am kinda new to forced induction. My friend has a set of Greddy T618Z turbo bolt on kit in his Mazda RX-8, he would like to let go the T618Z turbine as well as the intercooler kit. I was wondering if these two can work on our vehicle, might as well I will need to look for people to custom make Turbo Extractor/Manifold and the rest of piping. From my knowledge, T518Z a bolt on kit designed for our FA20 motor, while T620Z bolt on kit will require upgrading internal. Will T618Z require to upgrade internal if I am to custom this Turbo into my vehicle? My objective is not looking at high power, 300hp on engine and I will be very happy with it. T618Z was designed to run with 0.4 bar boost power only. Currently my engine is purely stock, and I have Powerhouse Amuse Overpipe, Tomei Type-80 Front Pipe and Tomei Type-80 Exhaust System. Fuel wise, there is no flex fuel in my place, and my vehicle is running on RON97 at all time. Ready made turbo kit such as T518Z is also pretty expensive in my place, so I am thinking where the T618Z would work well. Any inputs will be very much appreciated. |
I don’t know anything about that turbo but it seems pretty small. I can’t find the specs besides a weird chart on Greddy’s website showing it’s one of the smaller ones. Where did you read that it’s only good for 0.4bar? That’s like 5 psi, so if that were true, you’re not gonna see 300hp at 5psi.
My other reservation to it is the flange. Can’t find what flange it has, but if you go build or buy a manifold for that little turbo, you’ll be stuck modifying it to get a bigger one later if it’s not the same size. If it’s got a standard flange like a T3 that would be good. I bought an eBay knock off intercooler kit that’s exactly the same as the greddy kit for the twins. It was like $145 for the IC and pipes and couplers and has been working great for me. How much your friend trying to get for that little snail? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
The turbo part number is a generic one, so more likely than not, it will not be a bolt-on to any existing kit for the FA20.
