I just noticed this past weekend that the rear bumper cover makes some creaking rubbing noises where it meets the PASSENGER side rear quarter panel when I press on it.
There is no such creaking where the bumper cover meets the driver side rear quarter panel. Strange...

Been having this myself since around or before passing break-in... My dealer told me it was the seat belt knocking against the side of the car. What a bunch of f'tards. I hope Subaru gets a TSB so I can take the car back and bitch to them.

The guy they put in my car to drive it was old as hell. I guess I should be glad he didn't die just driving the car or break his hip getting in and out of it. He also couldn't hear the even more audible sound from right under his nose where the cabling which leads to the headlight leveler and trunk release. I wonder if I can charge them for the 12 miles they put on the car to cruise around?

I wonder if we go to the same dealership. :word:

I hear a LOUD bang/pop noise from the rear every now and then. It's loud enough to scare the hell out of me. Is this the noise you're talking about also?

I've seen another owner in another message board mentioning that, but I couldn't reproduce that noise on my car. Maybe it's another problem and my car happened to not have it.

Considering when the noise started, you probably have the same problem as I do. I know it's not the seat belt knocking against the side of the car because I tried fastening the both belts (as if there are passengers) and the noise didn't go away.

Going back and forth and keep explaining the same thing over and over is what I want to avoid. I'm not planning to try and get this fixed until the dealers know about this issue or there is TSB. The more we contact Scion, the more they escalate this issue.

How often do you hear that noise?
Do you only hear that loud noise or is there lighter ticking/clicking noise too if you have your windows closed and music off?

I heard a loud bang noise once too. I think it happend when I just started to have this noise problem (just over 1000 miles). It sounded like a welded metal piece with lots of tension snapped off. Since it only happened once and never again, I stopped worrying about it.

Mine is doing this. I mad.

Had my dealership take care of the third brakelight issue and make a note of the tapping noise.

Yeah I will have them note it next time I am in. I also have bad rattling forming from what sounds like under the shifter. Not the STI reverse lockout rattle. Its something else in the center console.

I have a noise from the same location; it creaks and rattles all the time. I took the car to the dealer twice already-- Surprise! They claimed they couldn't duplicate it. :bs:

Cheers to the people who are taking actions. :happy0180:
We need to get them moving.

Yeah its almost a waste of time, because you have to schedule and appointment, deal with not having the car for a day and whatnot. Then they cant/wont do anything about it.

I started taking apart my dash last night... I'm not used to the little plastic shim/clip/deals that hold everything together. Maybe this is a Toyota thing?

Several popped off do to my fiddling and are now rattling around inside my dash :(

Taking this type of noise problem to the dealer often is a waste of time unless there is TSB. I learned it the hard way. I'm not going to take it to the dealer unless there is a TSB or something similar. We should be contacting Scion / Subaru so that they will take this issue seriously.

Also, FYI, if you are having the same issue as I described in my first post, you don't have to remove the rear dash panel to reach the source of the noise. You can just stick your head in the trunk and look above. You will see both the panel and the body, which are said that have defective / not enough welds.
